Mini Medical School Expansion

Research conducted by the Academy/DPHA in the summer and fall of 2022 shows that Delaware has a number of “Pathways” programs, including our own Delaware Mini Medical School which has been in continuous operation since 2009.  This research is highlighted in the following pdf document – An Environmental Scan of Healthcare Pathways Programs in Delaware.

A component of the Delaware Health Force strategy is to reach out to youth, especially those in areas disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic, encouraging young minds to consider an educational path that leads them to a career in the health sciences.

To implement this strategy we are modeling a version of the Mini Medical School program focused exclusively on middle, junior, high school, and undergraduate students.

Graduates of this six-week series who attend all live sessions receive a signed certificate and are eligible to become members of our new Delaware Youth Medical Academy after composing a reflection paper on their learned experience.
